Ideas for a Mini PAC Meeting
Within a Regular Unit Meeting

The chair may call for a recess for the duration of the PAC event. When it is over a PAC donation basket can be available. Then the Chair may call the meeting back to order and the meeting will proceed as usual.

    Community Resources

  1. Arrange for a local astronomy club to do a presentation and then visit the club at night and see for yourself through their telescopes.

  2. Invite a local HAM radio group in to demonstrate how they work during emergencies.

  3. Invite community folks in to talk about proper diet.

    Miscellaneous

  4. Set up a career fair for part time post-retirement jobs.

  5. Invite members who have found part time work to share techniques they used to secure a job.

  6. Have gardening experts from your group show how to use drip irrigation methods.

  7. Stage a talent show (admission by contribution).

  8. Stage a demonstration hobby fair with card tables as booths.

  9. Show color slides of your city in the 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's.

  10. Bring a shoebox of old family pictures and label them in a group setting.

  11. Bring and share old Saturday Evening Post, Life and Look magazines or old high school yearbooks.

    Sales

  12. Conduct a sale of used books, paperbacks, and jigsaw puzzles. Hold a garage, yard, or white elephant sale. Try selling pens, pencils, ice scrapers, litter bags. Get some donations of small plants.

  13. Provide services such as typing, providing take-home frozen dinners,

    or teaching computer skills after meetings.

  14. Organize a Silent Auction with a top item value of $50.

    Teaching

  15. Find someone to teach how to use a cane properly.

  16. Show how to check oil and tire pressure on cars. Find air pressure decals on gas filler or driver's door.

  17. Teach greetings in a language other than English.

  18. Teach fly tying, carving, knitting, quilting, or digital photography.

  19. Teach how to get digital pictures into and out of a computer.

  20. Teach which retirement papers are most important!

    Computers

  21. Encourage computer savvy members to bring laptops. Notebook computer owners, with Internet connections, can show techniques to safely surf the Internet.

    Round Table Discussions

  22. Stage a round table discussion of members born in 20's, 30's, 40's & 50's. Ask counselors or principals of elementary, middle, and high schools to do a round table discussion of what it is like to be in school now.

    Use Your Membership to Help Stage These Programs:

  23. Find members to teach how to pack a suitcase.

  24. Find members who can tell of their cruise experiences good, bad and funny.

  25. Use members to tell of their experiences with:

    Food Preparation

  26. Prepare a soup and or salad luncheon before your regular meeting or provide dessert.

  27. Who has an old ice cream maker and a recipe? Provide ice cream at a meeting.

Consider signing up for the tax and fee proposal listserv at http://ofm.wa.gov/tax/default.asp. Click on the "Subscribe to the E-mail list" and fill out the form. You will receive emails that list all bills this session with their projected costs for the next 10 years. This reporting is a new requirement this year. The service tracks all legislators who support each bill.
